Noah’s Ark is a non-profit making holiday Playscheme providing respite to families in the Hertsmere area. We form part of our local Mencap society, Hertsmere Mencap. We are currently partly funded by Hertfordshire County Council and we also rely on donations for extras such as equipment and trips. We accept children with learning disabilities aged 5-16 yrs and will accommodate siblings where possible.

The scheme runs for one week at Easter and four weeks during the Summer holidays, Monday – Friday 10.00am – 3.00pm. We also hold activity days during the winter holidays.

The Scheme is run by a Management Committee consisting of parents who make decisions regarding the scheme, including staffing and training; Noah’s Ark is Ofsted registered and has an extensive range of policies that are available to parents/carers. Our 2016 Ofsted inspection rated us as meeting all requirements (we are not marked on an EYFS basis as we don’t take under 5’s). Their report reflects the high standards that we adhere to in caring for our children. Here is a quote:
“committed staff understand how to provide an excellent service for children with disabilities and special educational needs”.

Where we are:

We run from a local school in Borehamwood.

What we offer:

We provide fun and stimulating activities, outings and entertainment, for example, trips to soft play, theatre, farms and parks, bowling, as well as on-site activities such as bouncy castle, creative play, entertainers etc.

Caring for your children:

On arrival at the playscheme, each child is greeted by a member of the friendly staffing team led by the Head Play Leader.  Every day, each child has a named member of staff who is responsible for their individual care.

Children bring their own packed lunch; drinks and snacks are provided, taking dietary requirements into account. Medication can be administered where necessary, with the consent of a parent/carer.

Daily cost : £10 (concessions available)
