About Noah’s Ark Playscheme:
Noah’s Ark is a non-profit making holiday Playscheme, providing respite to families in the Hertsmere area and forms part of Hertsmere Mencap.
We accept children with learning disabilities aged 5-16 yrs.
We are currently partly funded by Hertfordshire County Council, however, we rely heavily on donations for resources such as additional staff, equipment, trips and activities. We are registered under the Hertfordshire Council’s SBLO (Short Breaks) scheme and registration to access the scheme is required (please enquire for further details).
The scheme runs for one week at Easter and three weeks during the Summer holidays, Monday – Friday 10.00am – 3.00pm. We also hold activity days during the Christmas holidays.
Noah’s Ark is Ofsted registered and has an extensive range of policies that are available to parents/carers. Our 2016 Ofsted inspection rated us as meeting all requirements (we are not marked on an EYFS basis as we don’t take under 5’s). Their report reflects the high standards that we adhere to in caring for our children; this can be accessed via the Ofsted website.
Daily cost: £10 (concessions available)
For a full report please access the Ofsted website www.reports.ofsted.gov.uk
Where we are:
We run from a local school in Borehamwood.
What we offer:
We provide fun and stimulating activities, outings and entertainment, for example, creative and sensory play, music and entertainment, plus trips to playgrounds, farms, sailing, theatre and bowling.
Caring for your children:
On arrival at the playscheme, each child is greeted by a member of the friendly staffing team led by the Head Play Leader. Every day, each child has a named member of staff who is responsible for their individual care. We prioritise the safety of all our children and will ensure each child’s individual needs are met as far as is possible; our staff are in regular communication with their parents/carers.
Children bring their own packed lunch; drinks and snacks are provided, taking dietary requirements into account. Medication can be administered where necessary, with the consent of a parent/carer.
Job opportunities are available for Play Assistants and volunteers.
We are currently looking for Play Assistants (paid staff) and also Volunteers for our forthcoming play schemes.
