What is Employment Support:

Employment Support is Hertsmere Mencap’s newly launched employment training programme.  Our programme will help people in Hertfordshire with a learning disability and autism to develop skills for the workplace.  The programme also provides support finding a job and support while in the workplace.

Our 9 week training programme is open to people aged 18 and over and sessions are weekly. Our employment training programme is based in Borehamwood and runs throughout the year with a maximum of 6 learners per session.  During and after the training, our Employment Support Advisor will support you with all you need to apply, start employment and support during employment.

What will I learn during the 9 weeks:

Key Topics include:

o            Introduction to the workplace

o            Understanding work types and environments

o            Developing essential job skills (communication, teamwork)

o            Practical job search skills

o            Writing a CV

o            Job interview preparation

o            Understanding your pay

o            Staying safe at work

o            Travelling to work

o            Support during employment

Am I eligible to attend the course:
