Linda Tanner, a life-long member of Hertsmere Mencap, was the winner of the annual Roy Pursey award, in recognition of her commitment to the charity. Every week Linda, who has lived in Borehamwood from childhood, is responsible for welcoming members and collecting the money at the Jubilee Club, Hertsmere Mencap’s social club. Paul Moser, Chair of Hertsmere Mencap said: “Even when Linda is not feeling 100%, she never has a day off and is extremely conscientious.” She also sells raffle tickets at the Christmas Party which raised nearly £150 at this years celebration.

Linda Tanner said she was ‘very happy’ to receive the award, while Mayor of Elstree and Borehamwood Cllr Victor Eni, who selected Hertsmere Mencap as his ‘Charity of the

year’ said it gave him ‘great pride to present the award to Linda who despite day to day challenges takes her responsibilities very seriously and is a credit to the charity.’
